The purpose of a method statement is to ensure, where safety critical, work is carried out in a particular sequence. The general principle of ensuring a safe system of work applies to all work activities and as such a method statement is an ideal way to prove that the risks associated with a particular activity has been carefully considered and appropriate controls implemented. However for lower risk activities it may be sufficient to rely on a combination of operator competence and comprehensive risk assessment in achieving a safe system of work.

The actual format is dependent on the work being undertaken and the organisational arrangements in place but generally the following headings should be present:

1. Organisation/company in control of the operation
2. Named individual responsible for the activity and its safety
3. Name of method statement originator and authorisation date
4. Arrangements for changing/deviating from method statement
5. General description of activity
6. Location of activity including access and restrictions
7. General working environment considerations, e.g. temperature and wind speed
8. Protection of others, e.g. members of the public
9. Emergency procedures, including location of emergency equipment
10. Identity of operatives (and any specific training or certification required)
11. Requirements for Personal Protective Equipment
12. Plant and equipment used, including safety precautions and restrictions
13. Materials information e.g. hazard information and storage/transport requirements
14. Work sequence, including associated risks and required control measures for each stage.
15. Safety checks/clearances at specific stages
16. Final clearance that activity is completed to specification
17. Any other additional information that may be relevant

The list above is not exhaustive and a method statement may or may not include each and every item. However as a minimum it must achieve the following objectives:-

It should be up to date, identifiable and its source accountable
It should contain the sequence of works
It should identify the associated risks and control measures
It should state actions/authorisation required to deviate from method statement

JetBlast UK Ltd carry out Site Specific Safety Method Statements for all activities undertaken

Building Cleaning

At this recent building clean at a new construction site, we used superheated steam at 150 bar to clean up the mess pigeons had left on the glass and cladding. Access to the building was an issue so we used the latest Bronto S52XDT MEWP that was controlled from the ground using the ground to cage communication system. It allowed us to clean safely at 15M whilst at an outreach of 28M.

JetBlast UK clean facades, warehouses and all types of commercial buildings. All work is carried out to the highest standards, we carry out full Heath & Safety Risk Assessments, Safety Method Statements, COSHH & Noise Assessments.

JetBlast UK are experts in the exterior cleaning of your building & facades and can make them glisten again. In addition, we also offer specialist services to restore block paving, tarmac & concrete back to near new.

Approximately 50,000 slips, trips or falls are reported each year in the UK to the Health and Safety Executive. 10,000 of which result in disabling injuries and 95% in broken bones. Uneven walking surfaces are largely to blame, with wet, or non-repaired paving giving rise to a growing number of accidents. JetBlast UK Ltd provides a fast and professional high pressure cleaning service for car dealership forecourts. We pride ourselves on the high quality of work we carry out, whether the job be large or small.

Yes that's correct, Jetblast UK can successfully repair your tarmac forecourt, remove any oil stains and bring the surface back to near new. We first put down a foaming detergent to lift the oil from the surface of the tarmac and repeat this process until the oil has been physical removed. We then pressure clean the entire area with a lance on a low pressure to remove all moss and ingrained dirt. Once dry we put down our own special acrylic asphalt enhancer which will remove all traces of the stain and bring the tarmac back to as good as new.

We can apply a Sealant to your block paving, which will bind the jointing sand together to stop weed growth and further guarantee that any oil spilt will not penetrate into the block pavers. Sealing of the blocks can either be in a mat or wet look finish. Your block paving can be sealed after it has been cleaned and the blocks are dry, we do this immediately after we have brushed in the kiln dried sand. These products can only be applied when the weather is warm and dry.

New Construction Cleaning

During the construction process block paving, tarmac and other surfaces can become stained with cement or mud from plant. Jetblast UK Ltd have worked alongside many leading building contractors, we are usually brought in on the final stages of construction with tight timescales in place for the clean up.
Our pressure cleaners operate at up to 200 bar and are coupled to high performance surface cleaners that allows us to clean block paving and other hard surfaces at up to 20 Meters per minute.
You may call us at short notice if the requirement is urgent, our operatives can normally be on site within a few hours.
We pride ourselves on the high quality of work we carry out, whether the job be large or small, the same attention to detail is given to each project.
At this brand new B&Q Superstore we were brought in by McLaren Construction to remove all mud and dirt from the tarmac binder course so that the final surface course could be laid by the surfacing contractors.
